How to get to Namsan Tower

N Seoul Tower, which its owner now calls YTN Seoul Tower, stands on the summit of Namsan, above Myeong-dong in central Seoul. Cars and taxis are not allowed up the hill, so the last stretch has to be covered by the Namsan shuttle bus, by cable car or on foot.

By bus 01A from Chungmuro Station

The Namsan shuttle bus drives right up the hill and stops a short walk below the tower.

    Every 6–9 minutes, 06:30–23:00. 1,400 KRW, paid by T-money card: no cash.

  3. Get off at Namsan Seoul Tower

Other ways up Namsan

From Myeong-dong: bus 01A starts at the Namsan Yejang bus transfer car park, 4 minutes' walk from Myeongdong Station exit 1.

From Dongguk University Station: exit 6, on Line 3. Bus 01A takes about 10 minutes from here.

Bus 01B: every 15–18 minutes, a longer loop past the National Theater of Korea that also stops at Namsan Library and the cable car.

Namsan Cable Car: 3 minutes up from the lower station near Myeong-dong. Fares and the walk from the metro are on the cable car page.

From Seoul Station: bus 402 from exit 9-1 to Namsan Library takes 8 minutes. From there the path beside the road climbs to the tower in 30–40 minutes.

Public holidays keep the weekend hours, to 23:00. Open every day of the year; hours can change in bad weather.

Getting to N Seoul Tower: questions

Can I take a taxi to Namsan Tower?

Not to the top: the road up Namsan is open only to the shuttle and tour buses and bicycles. A taxi can drop you at the cable car or at a bus 01A stop.

Is there parking at N Seoul Tower?

Not at the tower. The car parks on Namsan are a 30–40 minute uphill walk from the top.

Is N Seoul Tower wheelchair accessible?

The tower has elevators, accessible toilets and wheelchairs to borrow at the information center. Arriving by cable car, expect steps between the upper station and the tower.

How late can I get back down?

Buses 01A and 01B and the cable car all run until 23:00, when the observatory closes at weekends.
